Tequila Cherry Sour: A Bold, Fruity Cocktail Twist

The second of our Don Levi creations is the Don Levi Tequila Cherry Sour. For those that like a classic sour cocktail but with a dash of sweetness and tartness from the cherries to balance out the zesty notes of the lemon juice which complements the vibrant, smooth flavour of our Don Levi Blanco Tequila. Creating a beautifully balanced drink with a creamy texture and a cherry to garnish. 

Here’s how to make it.

Ingredients:

60ml Don Levi Blanco Tequila: A smooth, 100% agave Blanco tequila that’s the best tequila (in our opinion) for cocktails like this one. 

7 Cherries: Fresh cherries, 6 muddled to release their sweet, tart juice and 1 to garnish. 

20ml Lemon Juice: Freshly squeezed lemon juice to add a tart, citrusy kick that makes sours so refreshing. 

15ml Sugar Syrup: Adds sweetness to balance the tartness of the lemon and cherries. 

1 Egg White or 10ml Aquafaba (vegan option): The egg white or aquafaba provides a creamy, silky texture to the cocktail.

How to Make the Perfect Tequila Cherry Sour:

1. Muddle the Cherries 
Start by muddling 6 cherries in the bottom of your cocktail shaker. This releases the sweet and slightly tart cherry juice, which will be the base flavour of this cocktail.

2. Add the Ingredients 
To the shaker, add Don Levi Blanco Tequila, freshly squeezed lemon juice, sugar syrup, and either 1 egg white or 10ml aquafaba.

3. Shake Well 
Fill the shaker with ice and shake for 10 to 15 seconds until the shaker is cold and slightly frosted. 

4. Strain into a Martini Glass 
Strain into a martini glass. This cocktail is best served without ice to maintain it's silky texture.

5. Garnish with a Cherry 
Garnish your Tequila Cherry Sour with the remaining cherry.
