Día de los Muertos is a Mexican holiday that translates to Day of the Dead, celebrated annually from October 31st to November 2nd. Unlike most cultures, such as here in the UK, that treat death with solemnity, Mexicans embrace it as an integral part of life, honouring those who have passed with a festival of remembrance, joy, and connection. They believe that, during these days, the spirits of deceased loved ones return to the world of the living to celebrate with their families. 

Families create altars called ofrendas filled with offerings such as food, candles, photographs, and marigold flowers to welcome the spirits. The altar may also include sugar skulls, pan de muerto (bread of the dead), and incenses.
