Title: Toast to Love with Don Levi Tequila: Celebrating St Dwynwen's Day

As Valetine's Day is celebrated globally, a smaller tradition is slightly forgot or flies under the radar. St.Dwynwen's Day, celebrated on the 25th January and dedicated to the Welsh patron saint of lovers.
So what better time than to make romantic gestures, heartfelt expressions, and cherished traditions. At Don Levi Tequila, we believe every love story deserves a unique twist, just like our tequila. Let’s explore how you can honour this day and carry its romantic spirit forward year-round.
Who Was St Dwynwen?
St Dwynwen is the patron saint of Welsh lovers, who lived during the 4th century in Bannau Brycheiniog and was one of 24 daughters of King Brychan Brycheiniog . She fell in love with a local lad called Maelon Dafodrill, but her father had already arranged for her to marry another prince.
Maelon took the news badly, so Dwynwen, distraught, fled to the woods to weep, and begged God to help her. She was visited by an angel who gave her a sweet potion to help her forget Maelon, which actually turned him into a block of ice.
God then granted Dwynwen three wishes. Her first wish was that Maelon be thawed; her second wish was for God to help all true lovers; her third wish was that she would never marry.
In gratitude, Dwynwen became a nun and set up a convent on Llanddwyn Island, a beautiful little spot located on Anglesey in North Wales. Her name means, 'she who leads a blessed life'.
While the official date may have passed, the story of St Dwynwen reminds us that love is timeless and worth celebrating any day of the year.
